Business Continuity Management

Toyo Gosei Co., Ltd. recognizes that ensuring uninterrupted business operations is our greatest contribution to our stakeholders. Accordingly, we are strengthening our initiatives related to business continuity.
Business Continuity Management
BCM Basic Policy
- Respect for Human Life
We give top priority to ensuring the safety and physical well-being of all employees and their families, local communities, customers, and all other stakeholders. - Prevention of Escalation
We strive to prevent the occurrence of secondary disasters, such as fires at company facilities or environmental contamination. - Continuation and Early Recovery of Critical Operations
As a company that is socially valuable, we aim to continue critical operations as much as possible and, even if they are interrupted, to achieve their early restoration. - Contribution to Local Communities
As a company trusted by society, we strive to cooperate with local residents and neighboring municipalities. - Implementation of Business Continuity Management
Aiming to be a resilient company trusted by stakeholders, we continuously review and improve our Business Continuity Plan.
The Great East Japan Earthquake
The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 affected not only companies that had factories directly damaged by the disaster, but also production activities throughout the world.
Similarly, any interruption to our business operations, including the production of products such as photosentitive materials, for phoresist would have an impact on many stakeholders (interested parties such as business partners, investors, and local residents).
ISO22301 Certification
ISO22301 Certificate As a manufacturer of chemical products, we believe that conventional disaster prevention measures aimed solely at "protecting human life and assets" are no longer sufficient to achieve today's required objective of "continuing critical products and services."As an advanced initiative focused on business continuity, we obtained the management system standard BS25999 issued by the British Standards Institution in September 2012.
Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, the demand for business continuity became a global trend, and the international standard ISO22301 was issued in May 2012. Our company obtained certification to this standard in 2013.
Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
When an incident that affects critical products and services (such as disasters or accidents that hinder business continuity) occurs, it is necessary to continue the critical activities that support key operations, or to restore them as quickly as possible.
To mitigate the impact of incidents and to carry out business recovery promptly, we have established a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and conduct drills and training exercises.
In addition, during normal operations we analyze equipment at our facilities and, according to their level of importance, prepare backup parts and equipment and select alternative equipment.
Disaster Prevention Rating
We received a DBJ BCM-rated loan from the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ), and the rating result evaluated our initiatives for business continuity as "particularly excellent." These initiatives were recognized as having a high level of adaptability to environmental changes during all types of disasters and crises, and in December 2011, we received a high evaluation from the Development Bank of Japan under its Disaster Prevention Rating, stating that our efforts in disaster prevention and business continuity were particularly outstanding. As a result, we became the first chemical manufacturer to receive this type of financing. This evaluation is conducted continuously on an annual basis.
Disaster Prevention
Disaster Prevention Organization
At each site--the Ichikawa Plant, Chiba Plant, Fragrance Plant, Awaji Plant, and Takahama Tank Terminal--we organize in-house fire brigades and regularly conduct various types of training tailored to the characteristics of each facility in preparation for emergencies.
